Retail Arbitrage Tips + Haul

I recently placed an order on Nordstrom Rack’s website for some items that I was able to get on a really good deal and hopefully flip to make some money. I thought I would share with you the finds and how I went about looking for them! We are all dealing with a very unprecedented time and finding inventory can be hard if you are new into reselling. I will share with you some of the websites that I frequent in order to find deals and even some other blog posts I have done before on these topics.

The nice thing about Retail Arbitrage is that you can always return your items (if they weren’t final sale) if the comps suddenly drop. This can happen sometimes as the market can become saturated since many other people can get the same deal as you. In order to avoid this there are some things you can do…

Avoid Multiples

You want to make sure that the items you find won’t also be found my a mass majority of people. If you are able to find more than 5 of the item in the store you are in I wouldn’t pick it up. It is very likely that the same item will also appear that much in other stores across the country and the profit margin will drop significantly once the market is saturated.

List Immediately

If you list your item as soon as possible then you might be able to sell your item before the market becomes saturated. If your item is highly sought after then it will probably sell before the others were able to list theirs. They will be left with items sitting in their closet and having to decrease the prices while you were able to act fast and get your cash.

List your items on multiple different reselling platforms. This will allow more eyes looking at your item and will bring you a higher chance of selling it. The more people looking at your items the better. I mainly sell on Poshmark, but some other great reselling sites are eBay, Mercari, and Tradesy. This can take up a lot of time, but if it definitely worth it if you end up selling your item on of these other platforms. I have recently been cross listing my items on Mercari and had already made 2 sales in the past few days so it is worth it in my opinion!

If you are worried that your items you purchased won’t make you the profit you had originally intended then don’t be afraid to return them. I have done this before when I have purchased an item from one of the above stores and I just no longer thought that it would make me the money that I needed it to so I went ahead and returned it. This is totally fine and always know that you have this as a backup plan.
