How I Got Started Reselling

August 23 will be my one year anniversary since I started reselling. I am amazed that I have been reselling for almost a year at this point! It has been a crazy eventful, stressful, and a knowledge filled year. I have found a lot of support from family, friends, and the reselling Instagram community. I thought I would start my blog off with how I got into reselling so you guys can hear my story and how I got to where I am today. So without further ado…

It all started on a muggy summer day in my local Savers. My fiance and I were browsing the aisles filled endlessly with clothing, shoes, and electronics. We had not found anything in our thirty minutes of browsing so we decide we were going to leave the store, but before we left we needed to check out the glass case. Oh the glass case is always filled with overpriced designers item such as Coach and Michael Kors. Oh but not this time. This time it had a pair of Gucci men’s shoes.  This was a score of a lifetime. One that you find and immediately run to check out and pre-start the car. You get out of there as Fast. As. You. Can. You don’t have time for someone to realize what you have and try to snatch it from you while you’re not looking. We check out and rush home to then discover what we has found. These Gucci shoes were not just any Gucci shoes. These were alligator skin oxfords that retail $4,000. First I was surprised that someone in my town would even spend that much money on a pair of shoes. Second I was surprised that someone that had spent that much money on this pair of shoes, donated them. They either decided the crocodile skin was a little boujee or they had passed away. What do you do with a pair of $4,000  Gucci alligator oxfords in your size? Do you wear them or do you sell them and make a profit of a lifetime? After a while of thinking about what to do (and wearing them a few times), he decided he would put them up on eBay and see what offers he would get. He later would get an offer for $350 and he took it and ran. He could’ve waited for a buyer that would pay more money, but why wait when you only paid a fraction of that? So he shipped them off to the buyer, and has never looked back. Except for all the times he wishes that he would have never sold those shoes. After watching him do that I then decided that I could also do that, and probably way better than him. I then became OBSESSED with thrifting and trying to find amazing deals. I will admit in the past year I have had amazing finds and buys, but I’ve also had some really bad ones too. It takes time to figure out what sells and what it is in demand from customers. I feel like i am just now getting to a place where I feel like I am sourcing good inventory that I can sell for a decent profit.

The first thing I ever resold was a Tory Burch orange sunglasses case,

and the most recent thing I sold was this pair of Cole Haan calf hair leopard print loafers!
